Os Karas is a famous Brazilian children's and young adult book series created by Pedro Bandeira in the 1980s. The stories follow five teenage students from a school in São Paulo — Miguel, Crânio, Calu, Chumbinho, and Magri — who form a secret group dedicated to fighting villains, solving crimes, and unraveling mysteries. Through their adventures, the series celebrates friendship, teamwork, and the intelligence and resourcefulness of young people.
I created a complete redesign of this iconic five-book series, developing a new visual identity with vibrant colors, bold graphic elements, and a playful visual language that reflects the mystery, adventure, and irreverent spirit of the stories.
For this project, I developed the cover designs, hand-drew all the title lettering, and created the complete interior book design. I wanted to explore lettering as a fundamental part of the visual identity, creating unique typographic compositions for each book.
